Hotel101 Global Pte. Ltd., in partnership with engineering firms Kamita Sekkei and Technocrew, as well as contractor Iwata Chizaki Inc., signed a pact today to develop the environmentally progressive Hotel101-Niseko.
This project will mark the first hotel in Niseko to receive a CASBEE rating, Japan’s premier standard for assessing the environmental performance of buildings.
The collaboration combines the expertise of Kamita Sekkei and Technocrew, known for their work with Hokkaido University and the cities of Sapporo and Obihiro, with the construction prowess of Iwata Chizaki Inc., the firm behind the iconic Chitose International Airport.
Together, they aim to establish a new benchmark in sustainable development within the region.
Hotel101 Global CEO, Hannah Yulo-Luccini, emphasized sustainability as a core component of their brand strategy, noting that eco-friendly practices not only protect the environment but also attract a new generation of conscious consumers and reduce operational costs.
The hotel, designed to embody green architecture and smart system integration, will occupy a 1.17-hectare site in Niseko-Hirafu amid the area’s pristine natural scenery.
“Achieving a CASBEE rating underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship and positions Hotel101-Niseko as a leader in green hospitality,” Yulo-Luccini stated.
Further enhancing the hotel’s appeal, DoubleDragon Chairman Edgar Injap Sia II announced that with the new Bullet Train connecting Tokyo to Niseko, the 482-room Hotel101-Niseko is poised to become a prime destination for both domestic and international tourists.
“We envision Hotel101 Global becoming renowned worldwide as one of the most eco-friendly hotel brands,” added Sia.
